ARRT CLARIFIES GOVERNING DOCUMENT CHANGES

In July, ARRT recommended changes to its governing documents. We sent the proposed changes to all R.T.s and asked for your comments.

Although most respondents agreed with the proposals, a few proposed changes caused some controversy. Here’s a recap of why we proposed those changes and how they will—and won’t—affect you.

POSTPRIMARY REQUIREMENTS CHANGE

If you’re seeking an ARRT credential using our postprimary pathway—or planning to do so—be aware of changes in our structured education requirement.

RENEWAL FEE INCREASES

The annual cost of renewing your first ARRT credential is increasing slightly for 2018—no more than $5 per credential. Learn how this will affect you.

EDUCATION, NOT CREDENTIAL, EARNS CE

R.T.s whose biennia start on or after Jan. 1, 2018 will no longer be able to use newly earned credentials to satisfy their biennial CE requirements. But you can use the education activities you completed in pursuit of the credential.

REPORT ETHICS VIOLATIONS WITHIN 30 DAYS

Remember: if you violate one of ARRT’s Rules of Ethics, you must let us know within 30 days of the event or at your annual renewal, whichever comes first.

YOU CAN SCHEDULE/TAKE EXAMS WHILE UNDER ETHICS REVIEW

Under a new policy, you may now schedule and sit for ARRT exams—even if you’re under an ARRT ethics review.

ETHICS REVIEWS RARELY RESULT IN REVOCATION

ARRT investigated nearly 2,000 ethics violations in 2016, and only 36 cases (2 percent) resulted in revocation.
