Reminders for the 2024-2025 School Year
Effective Jan. 1, 2025: Important Change to ARRT Rules and Regulations
Students must:
- Earn their degree (if not already completed) within three years after finishing the professional component of their educational program.
- Submit their exam application within the same three-year period.
Learn more about this change in ARRT Rules and Regulations, Section 2.03 on page 2.
Student Account Creation and Verification Process
Here’s what you need to do:
- Provide a link to students so they can create an online account (in some cases, students will need a special set of instructions to do this--see the Student Account Setup Instructions page if you have students who need to requalify, submitted an ethics review preapplication, or are pursuing an additional credential using the primary eligibility pathway).
- ARRT will notify you when a new account needs your attention. Review those accounts and either approve or reject (don’t reject an account because you see incorrect dates—you can change the expected program completion and/or degree conferral date if needed once you approve the student’s account).
- Verify program completion and degree conferral dates. Please keep ARRT updated if there are any changes to these dates.
Please be aware that there is one final important step in this process. Once students have reached both their degree conferral date and their program completion date, you must review and verify these dates on the Program Completion Verification List one last time.
NOTE: It’s crucial for both educators and students to understand the difference between the program completion date and the degree conferral date, as these are not always the same and eligibility is dependent on this information.
- The program completion date is the date that a student completes all educational program requirements including all ARRT didactic and clinical competency requirements.
- The degree conferral date is listed on a student’s academic transcript. It may not be the same as the program completion and/or commencement dates.
Primary Pathway Eligibility Requirements
Candidates must:
- Successfully complete an ARRT-verified formal educational program accredited by an agency that ARRT recognizes.
- Complete an associate (or higher) degree, in any subject, from an educational institution accredited by an agency that ARRT recognizes.
- Comply with the ARRT Rules and Regulations and ARRT Standards of Ethics.
- Establish eligibility to take the ARRT exam within three years of completing all educational requirements, including both the formal education program and the degree requirement. Currently, you may earn the degree requirement at any time—before, after, or while you complete an educational program in your discipline. Beginning Jan. 1, 2025, however, you’ll need to earn your degree no more than three years after completing an educational program in your discipline
