ARRT Continues Move to Online Applications
To make it easier to apply for ARRT credentials, we’re continuing to move from paper to online applications. Today, nearly all candidates can apply online.
Here’s what you need to know:
- We’ve stopped printing paper applications.
- If your program hasn’t yet changed to online applications, for now you can download paper applications from our Program Directors website. (From the main menu bar, click on Applications for Certification and Registration, then select Printed Applications.)
- We’ll accept paper applications until Jan. 1, 2026.
Most Candidates Can Apply Online
Last year, we expanded our online application process to most students. That includes those who submitted an ethics review preapplication and those pursuing an additional credential using the primary eligibility pathway.
Only a few groups of students still need to use paper applications. They are those:
- Whose program directors extended their completion dates by more than 180 days past their original completion dates
- Or who created ARRT online accounts but didn't complete their educational programs, and who later returned to the same or different educational programs (program directors notify ARRT when students won't complete their educational programs)
Candidates for ARRT’s Registered Radiologist Assistant (R.R.A.) credential will continue to apply on paper for now, because they follow a separate application process.
Online Applications Offer Many Benefits
If you haven’t already started, we encourage you to begin using online applications as soon as you can. Benefits include:
- Faster turnaround times, because students and program directors don’t have to wait to receive materials through the mail
- The ability for students to communicate with ARRT using Message Center
- Access to the restricted part of ARRT’s website, giving students a chance to familiarize themselves with their account dashboard and other resources for candidates and R.T.s
- The ability for students to document requirements for additional ARRT credentials using our postprimary eligibility pathway
