Most Students Can Now Apply Online for an ARRT Credential
Can your students apply online for an ARRT credential? Although we still have a few exceptions, the answer is probably yes.
We know that applying and paying online for an ARRT credential makes the process faster and easier for most candidates. That’s why we’re consistently adding to the list of candidates who can apply online.
Be aware that if your students are applying online, they’ll need to pay using a credit card. That might affect you if your program pays for students’ exam attempts by issuing checks. See our companion article regarding this issue.
Who Can Apply Online
Students graduating from their first educational program, and using our primary eligibility pathway, can apply online for any of their three attempts. That’s true even if they’ve submitted an Ethics Review Preapplication.
In addition, students with potential ethics violations and who are within eight months of graduating can apply online. They must answer yes to the appropriate ethics questions and follow the instructions they’ll receive after applying.
Who Needs to Use a Paper Application
For now, these students must use paper applications:
- Those who are pursuing an additional credential using the primary eligibility pathway
- Those who didn’t pass or didn’t take the exam within their three-year eligibility period, and therefore must complete another educational program before taking an ARRT exam
We’re working on programming so that these candidates will soon be able to apply online. Watch your email for updates.
In addition, people who need to retake the exam because we discontinued their credential must use a paper application.
