September 2016
This New Year’s Day, ARRT’s rules regarding ethics violations will change.
Beginning Jan. 1, 2017, you’ll have to report any potential ethics violation within 30 days of its occurrence (or at your annual renewal, whichever comes first). In the past, you didn’t have to report potential violations until it was time for your annual certification and registration renewal.
You can find a list of potential ethics violations in the Rules of Ethics section of ARRT’s Standards of Ethics. The list includes such things as criminal charges, criminal convictions, and licensing issues with any state or federal regulatory authority.
We’re changing the reporting rule to support our mission of promoting high standards of patient care. Prompt reporting enables ARRT to begin investigating issues immediately. It’s in the best interests of R.T.s to resolve matters quickly, because delayed reporting can become an ethics issue in itself.
