Bone Densitometry

Working as a Technologist in Bone Densitometry

Healthy and strong bones are essential for keeping active, especially as people grow older. If someone is at risk of low bone density or osteoporosis, or shows signs of subtle bone loss, doctors must be able to verify the condition before making treatment recommendations.

That’s where a bone densitometry technologist comes in. In this position, you’ll create images using specialized X-ray equipment, which can help doctors discover issues with patients’ bone health. If the test reveals bone loss, patients and their health providers can discuss treatment options, such as medication and lifestyle changes.
