RECOGNIZING THOSE WHO GO ABOVE AND BEYOND
September 2016
We at ARRT are pleased to announce the first honorees in our I Am the Gold Standard program. This new honor goes to three Registered Technologists (R.T.s) who consistently demonstrate excellence in their contributions—at work and in the community.
Please join us in congratulating Mary T. Bruno, David (Lap Kong) Poon, and Jennifer (J.) Alexander.
Mary T. Bruno, B.S., R.T.(R)(MR)(ARRT)
Advanced Practice Specialist
New York University – Langone Medical Center
“When you start to see that your imaging is making a difference in the way people are being cared for, and the way decisions are made on their treatment, that’s a driving force. I want patients to get what they need.”
David (Lap Kong) Poon, R.T.(R)(ARRT)
Principal Radiologic Technologist, Supervisor
University of California – San Francisco Medical Center
“I was walking to work when someone grabbed my hand—I was caught completely off guard. He said, ‘David, you don’t know me, but I want to thank you for taking care of me at UCSF.’ That’s why I do what I do.”
J. Alexander, M.B.A., M.H.A., CRA, R.T.(R)(CT)(ARRT)
Operations Manager of Imaging Systems and Services
University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center
“We have the opportunity to make a lifelong impression on someone in only 30 minutes. We can change the way people think about medicine, what their care options are, and how we can benefit them.”
The goal of I Am the Gold Standard is to spotlight average clinical caregivers who made contributions that were well above average. A committee of R.T.s on staff at ARRT selected honorees from among more than 100 nominations. Bruno, Poon, and Alexander will each receive airfare, hotel and conference registration for a national society conference of their choice in the continental U.S. Nominees had to be currently certified and registered with ARRT and could not have been recognized by another national organization.
Watch for further news about this inspiring trio in the coming months!
