Starting in 2018: Educational Activities—Not a Credential—Will Earn CE

ARRT’s Continuing Education (CE) requirements help ensure that you regularly update your professional knowledge and skills. Until now, ARRT has allowed R.T.s to use newly earned credentials to satisfy their biennial CE requirements.

We’ve changed this rule for R.T.s whose biennia start on or after Jan. 1, 2018. Our goal: to emphasize educational activities over the credentials themselves.

  • If you earn a new ARRT-recognized credential during a biennium beginning on or before Dec. 31, 2017, you can still report that credential (rather than the individual educational activities) to help satisfy your biennial CE requirement.
  • For a biennium that begins on or after Jan. 1, 2018, earning a new credential won’t fulfill your CE requirements. Instead, you may submit the approved educational activities you completed while working toward a new credential.

Those activities may meet your biennial CE requirements.

No matter when your biennia begins and ends, the activities you complete must meet ARRT’s Category A or A+ requirements. If you earn credentials from NMTCB, ARDMS, or ABII, be sure your educational activities meet our requirements.
