Beth Weber, MPH, R.T.(R)(ARRT), RDMS, CRA, FASRT, has been appointed to a four-year term on the Board of Trustees of The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). She will fill the position vacated by Steven M. Herrmann, MSA, R.T.(R)(M)(ARRT), CRA, FASRT, who has completed two four-year terms on the Board, the maximum that ARRT’s bylaws allow.
Weber is Director of Imaging Service and Privacy Officer at Avera Heart Hospital of South Dakota in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. She began her career as a Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist and has worked as a Sonographer, Chief Technologist, and Ancillary Services Manager. Her responsibilities have included quality control, staffing, and coordinating a student radiography clinical rotation, and she played a significant role in opening the Avera Heart Hospital’s 53-bed facility more than 18 years ago.
After studying at the McKennan School of Radiologic Technology and earning a bachelor of science degree from Presentation College, Weber earned a master’s degree in public health from the University of Minnesota.
She has been a member of the American Society of Registered Technologists (ASRT) Board of Directors for four years. She served as vice speaker and speaker of the ASRT House of Delegates. Weber also volunteered on committees for ARRT and the American College of Radiology. In addition, she served on advisory boards for the Avera McKennan Hospital School of Radiologic Technologists and the University of South Dakota Health Service Administration.
“I am motivated to continue molding the future of the radiology profession using my years of health care experience,” Weber says. “ARRT is a highly respected member of the medical imaging and radiologic science community. I look forward to being involved in the future of our professional credentialing.”
Herrmann was Vice President of Operations at New York Presbyterian Lower Manhattan Hospital in New York City. He earned a bachelor of science degree in health science from Brooklyn College and a master of science degree in administration from Central Michigan University. He has served as President of and in other leadership positions for the New York State Society of Radiologic Sciences. He has also held leadership positions with ASRT.
“I thoroughly enjoyed my time working with dedicated professionals and amazing staff on the ARRT Board,” Herrmann says. “Highlights for me included working on the Ethics Committee and advancing the Continuing Qualifications Requirements process.”
