ARRT reminds R.T.s that we've changed our policy about using newly earned credentials to satisfy biennial continuing education (CE) requirements.
If you've earned a new credential, or if you're working on one, and your current biennium began after Jan. 1, 2018:
- You may submit the approved educational activities you completed while working on the credential (for example, structured education) to help satisfy your biennial CE requirement.
- The activities must meet our Category A or A+ requirements or be approved academic courses—whether you pursued your credential through ARRT, the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB), the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography, or the American Board of Imaging Informatics.
- You don't earn CE for the credential itself.
ARRT first began communicating to R.T.s about this change in 2016. If your current biennium began before Jan. 1, 2018, you may still submit a credential instead of individual educational activities. That option will expire when your current biennium ends.
We made the change to emphasize educational activities rather than the credentials themselves.
