ARRT’s Board of Trustees recently approved changes to the clinical experience requirements for our Cardiac Interventional Radiography credential. If you’re working on the credential, be sure to review the linked document.
The changes go into effect on July 1, 2023, and apply to all candidates for the credential.
Here are the most significant changes.
- In the past, coronary interventional procedures were elective. We now require candidates to complete at least 10 of those procedures.
- We’ve increased the minimum number of repetitions of elective procedures from 80 to 100.
- You may now choose from these additional elective procedures (in addition to previous elective procedures): ventricular septal closure device, generator exchange, intravascular lithotripsy, transcatheter mitral valve repair, atrial appendage closure device implantation, and ECMO placement.
To ensure that our certification examinations cover the material entry-level professionals need to know, ARRT periodically conducts job analyses. The analyses help ensure that the content specifications and clinical requirements for our exams remain comprehensive, accurate, and fair. With help from the professional community, ARRT reviews our certification documents every five years.
