ARRT’s Board of Trustees recently approved changes to the clinical experience requirements for our Vascular Interventional Radiography credential. If you’re working on the credential, be sure to review the linked document.
The changes go into effect on July 1, 2023, and apply to all candidates for the credential.
Here are the most significant changes.
Logging Procedures
- You may log a maximum of 10 procedures each day.
- You may count each procedure a maximum of 10 times.
- You must complete at least 50 exams in each procedural category. You may select remaining exams from any category.
- For each patient, you may count only one diagnostic procedure but may count additional interventional procedures on the same day.
Procedural Categories
- We now group procedures into three categories, rather than seven.
- We added several new procedures across the three categories.
- We removed discography and percutaneous stone extraction from the Nonvascular Procedures category.
To ensure that our certification examinations cover the material entry-level professionals need to know, ARRT periodically conducts job analyses. The analyses help ensure that the content specifications and clinical requirements for our exams remain comprehensive, accurate, and fair. With help from the professional community, ARRT reviews our certification documents every five years.
