Since certification examinations are required to be practice related, ARRT periodically conducts a job analysis to make certain that the certification examination content specifications and the clinical requirements remain comprehensive, accurate, and fair. ARRT, with the help of the professional community, reviews the certification documents every five years. The ARRT Board of Trustees recently approved changes to the following documents, which go into effect on January 1, 2024.
OVERVIEW OF MAJOR CHANGES TO THE CONTENT SPECIFICATIONS
Additional content was added in the Patient Care section.
Topics concerning imaging informatics were added to the Image Production section.
In the Procedures section, incidental abnormal findings was added under the Focus of Questions.
The total number of questions remains the same on the examination.
OVERVIEW OF THE MAJOR CHANGES TO THE DIDACTIC AND CLINICAL COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS
Ergonomic evaluation was added to the mandatory scanning techniques list.
Previously listed individual structures were combined to be included with the abdomen, right upper quadrant, and renal procedures.
An appendix was added that lists required and optional structures to be included with some of the procedures.
A maximum of four procedures may be simulated on volunteers. Eligible procedures that can be simulated are indicated on the chart.
