Updated MRI Documents

Since certification examinations are required to be practice related, ARRT periodically conducts a job analysis to make certain that the certification examination content specifications and the clinical requirements remain comprehensive, accurate, and fair. ARRT, with the help of the professional community, reviews the certification documents every five years. The ARRT Board of Trustees recently approved changes to the following documents, which go into effect on February 1, 2025.

OVERVIEW OF MAJOR CHANGES TO THE CONTENT SPECIFICATIONS

  • Additional content, including time-out and communication of critical finding to health care team, was added in Patient Care.
  • Nyquist theorem was added to Data Manipulation in Image Production.
  • Soft tissue was added to Musculoskeletal in Procedures.
  • The number of scored questions remains the same and the number of pilots increased from 20 to 30.

OVERVIEW OF THE MAJOR CHANGES TO THE DIDACTIC AND CLINICAL COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS

  • Total spine and soft tissue were added to the elective procedures list.
  • The number of required elective procedures increased from 11 to 12.
  • Language was added clarifying that procedures done remotely cannot be used for completing clinical competency requirements.
