PROVIDE APPROPRIATE DOCUMENTATION FOR STUDENTS SEEKING CE CREDIT
Published May 2018
Some students who are already Registered Technologists (R.T.s) want to submit the courses they take for continuing education (CE) credit. For example, R.T.s studying health care administration might want to submit courses to fulfill their biennial CE requirements.
COURSE REQUIREMENTS
Such courses must:
- Be part of a formal course of study that’s relevant to the radiologic sciences and/or to patient care related to the radiologic sciences
- Be offered by an institution accredited by an ARRT-recognized accreditation agency
You can find guidelines for whether a course is relevant in Section 21 (Page 6) of our Continuing Education Requirements. Note: if your school uses a competency-based system, we can’t accept such courses for CE credit at this time—unless your institution provides specific information explaining the conversion of competency credits (units) to academic credits (i.e., quarter credits or semester credits).
TRANSCRIPT REQUIREMENTS
R.T.s must maintain proof of participation in their CE activities. If R.T.s are selected for CE audits, they'll have to submit a transcript to ARRT showing:
- The month and year in which they completed the course
- That they passed a pass/fail course or received a grade of C or better in a graded course
- The number of course credits and whether those credits are for a quarter or a semester
For students enrolled in an academic course to gain CE but not academic credit, acceptable documentation is a certificate of participation on institutional letterhead. The certificate must include all ARRT-designated information for such certificates. It must also state that such students met the same course requirements required of students enrolled for academic credit.
