ARRT INSTITUTES DAILY REPORTING LIMITS FOR CLINICAL EXPERIENCE
If you’re working on a credential using the postprimary eligibility pathway, be aware that on Jan. 1, 2020, we began limiting the number of clinical experience entries you can report on one day. Keep in mind:
- The limits don’t apply to activities you performed before Jan. 1, 2020—even if you don’t report them until after that date.
- We limit the number of entries you can report on a given day, not the number you can perform. That means you may perform additional patient procedures, but you can’t enter those procedures in the online tools. Instead, start fresh with new patients the next day.

The number of clinical experience entries you can report each day varies depending on the discipline.

Why the Change?
The limit encourages you to use the learning strategy of distributed practice—that is, of extending your learning rather than “cramming.” Studies show that people learn more effectively when they experience a greater number of relatively short training sessions, distributed over a longer time, instead of fewer, longer sessions over a shorter time. That learning model applies to both cognitive knowledge and psychomotor skills.
