ANNUAL RENEWAL
One requirement of maintaining your ARRT certification and registration is that you renew your credential(s) each year. You can renew quickly and easily using your online account.
GENERAL ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
To renew your credential(s), you must remain in compliance with the ARRT Rules and Regulations and the ARRT Standards of Ethics.
CONTINUING EDUCATION AND CONTINUING QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS
You'll need to complete and report continuing education (CE) every two years. This two-year period is called your CE biennium. Although you'll report your CE activities when you renew, the deadline for completing the activities is different from your renewal deadline. Learn more about CE, your biennium, and your CE deadlines.
If you haven't completed sufficient CE activities by the end of your CE biennium, you'll need to accept CE probation when you complete the renewal process.
To renew your credentials, you must be current on your Continuing Qualifications Requirements (CQR).
Looking for activities to fulfill your biennial CE requirements?
The easiest way to find approved category A and A+ activities is by using this biennial CE search tool.
TIMING
After you earn your initial credential, you’ll be certified and registered through the end of your next birth month.
There’s one exception: when that date is less than two months away from your initial credentialing date, you’ll remain certified and registered through the end of your birth month in the following year.
Your renewal deadline is always 11:59 p.m. Central Time on the last day of your birth month.
RENEWAL FEES
Our annual renewal fee is $30 for your first discipline and $15 for any additional disciplines. If you qualified for an ARRT postprimary using a credential from the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) or The American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS), your renewal fee is $45 for your first postprimary discipline and $15 each for any additional disciplines.
Note: Fee changes coming for 2026 renewals. ARRT will implement a flat fee of $65 for renewals, starting with those due in January 2026. This single fee will apply to all renewals, regardless of the number of credentials held. Likewise, R.T.s who earned an ARRT credential using a supporting credential from NMTCB or ARDMS will pay a flat $65 renewal fee. (Posted Nov. 1, 2024)
HOW TO RENEW
Annual renewal is fast and easy—you can complete it through your online account using a credit or debit card. If you choose to receive renewal reminder emails, we’ll notify you by email two months before your birth month that it's time to renew. Even if you opt out of email notifications, you’re responsible for renewing on time. After you renew, your account will show your updated status within a few days. Remember, you must renew by 11:59 p.m. Central Time on the last day of your birth month each year.
If you do not complete the renewal process, your certification and registration will be discontinued.
